Some thoughts on the sentecning by our esteemed AMG alumnus Jusitice Daniel (patfl) Billings.
40 years is, IMO low .

OK,

OK, let's review:

"Balcer also has talked about hearing “a tone” in her (his) head, something she (he) had heard before, and that affected thinking."

"Charles Robinson, a private forensic psychologist, who assessed her (his) potential for future violent behavior. Robinson’s report concluded, “These observations coupled with the extreme rarity of parricide would support a risk management category of low risk for Andrew absent situational determinants not under his control.”"

Uh, aren't tones in his head "situational determinants not under his control"? Young Andrew is suffering from some kind of psychological condition. I hope he gets the help he needs, and telling him what he is feeling is normal is not helping him.

The excuse is that the killer

The excuse is that the killer was too young and mind was too undeveloped to understand what they were doing?

17 turning on 18 is too young to understand murder? This kid screams "sociopath" at me.

Give or take a few years one

Give or take a few years one way or another he will serve around 33 years give or take depending on goodtime
earned and credit for jail time served befoe sentencing. That means he will be 50ish when released.
I hope that is enough time for him to figure it out. I suspect it won't be.
