New Position, Title & Name.

New Position, Title & Name.

So Janet was elected. Now she has a new position, new title and even a new name. You can use it starting immediately. It will be easy to learn every time you have your breakfast cereal.
Are you ready for this ?

Seriously? It is a lame joke and hardly worthy of a chuckle, much less an DRARS. Now this, this is funny: https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2018/nov/07/late-night-roundup-midterm-elections-seth-meyers-jimmy-kimmel.

Thanks, Stoolwatcher, for the link.

All of the late night crowd,

All of the late night crowd, especially SNL, stopped being funny once I got into my thirties.

Well, if you enjoy seeing the

Well, if you enjoy seeing the right wingnuts mocked, parodied, and generally derided (as I do), it's f'ing hilarious and quite clever. The problem is the knuckledraggers have no sense of humor and no concept of self-deprecation. There's a reason there's never been a successful conservative equivalent to SNL or any other late night show.

"No sense of humor" .

I found your obvious failure to understand the difference between attempted humor and entertainment very enlightening.

Progressive "sense of humor"

Progressive "sense of humor" is shouting people out of restaurants and the like. Rank insults are not humor in the time honored sense. Rank mockery is not humor, but I wouldn't expect those who favor diaper diatribes to get that.

Self-deprecation is something you do yourself; that's why it begins with the word "self," patsy.

As usual, the trolls think their oh-so-juvenile pejorative bullying is funny. All offensive behavior is fine when they do it. Hypocrisy is their true religion.

Hey! Nice play, there, fella. If I didn't have a sense of humor, I'd have no sense at all.

The problem is, as has been stated already in this thread, that the "humor" of the left is cutting and demeaning. For a classy response, view Representative Dan Crenshaw's response to the weak-minded ex-boyfriend of Ariana Grande.

Strange. I can't imagine enjoying any sort of wingnut mocked, parodied, and generally derided. That premise sounds too obvious to be funny. I don't like retard jokes, either, and it's not because I don't have a sense of humor. I'd say seeking out humor to confirm one's biases smacks of desperation.

Who's lacking self-deprecation here?

I would say that the usual suspects here on AMG engage in regular self-depreciation in public, which only requires that they insert "i" in deprecation.

Yup, and while fat-faced Hannity and the shrewish Ingraham were choking on their spittle, Crenshaw was laughing at the faux outrage and appearing on SNL.

Expat - For the record, we

Expat - For the record, we (our family) prefer to discuss and hear the discussion of ideas rather than characterizations of people. If that is what you intend to express when you impugn certain talk show personalities, then we agree.

I would add that I have yet to find a talk show personality calling themselves a "progressive" who is able to rationally express their beliefs. That comes as no surprise, given that "progressive" beliefs espouse a class-based society in which elitists hold power over what they consider to be a lower, less educated class that must be led. I believe we had a little skirmish over exactly this point give or take 240 years ago, and the outcome was quite surprising for the elite class.
