How dumb do they think the people are?
By "they" do you mean "the conservative deep state?" In the interest of precision, what, please, is the antecedent of "they?"
Is there a corresponding "liberal deep state?"
Most are smart enough to be able to fiqure things out.
If there is a "war" it was started by the opposition IMO.
This is a battle in that war, which has been going on for a long time.
As in many wars, there are leaders. In this case the general has issued orders and they are expected to be followed
by his employees. Anyones' sensibilities that are offended can quit their jobs.
Anyone who does not like the message can activate the on /off function.
This is nothing more than a statement of the owners policy and vision. The left has a fit over something they have made a practice of. There is nothing in the statement by the owners that is political or in error or controversial. In fact it is great in that the stations promise to provide unbiased, fair and not faked news. What urine soaked brain would find that offensive. The diff between an honest media group and the lying, traitors to America...the 5th Column, is that you can record the exact wording from every such stations and news outlets whereby they announce exactly the same lies...word for word.
This angst about the owner's statement is a big nothing burger.
What, precisely, in that statement is causing heartburn? It is a commitment to impartiality and responsiveness to local viewers, nothing more. Is impartiality now seen as a problem???
It's the irony, dumbass, the irony. Pot, kettle, black, that sort of thing, you clueless tool. (Cue another 50 comment hand-wringing thread about the drive-by troll who has caused so many to be MIA from AMG). LOL, WTF is wrong with you stupid MFs?
IMPARTIALITY being condemned by JOURNALISTS (sic) is the IRONY.
From the Society of Professional Journalists webpage (lower right): https://www.spj.org/index.asp
"SPJ's Code of Ethics
Members of the Society of Professional Journalists believe that public enlightenment is the forerunner of justice and the foundation of democracy. Ethical journalism strives to ensure the free exchange of information that is accurate, fair and thorough. An ethical journalist acts with integrity.
The Society declares these four principles as the foundation of ethical journalism and encourages their use in its practice by all people in all media."
And the more detailed Code of Ethics: https://www.spj.org/ethicscode.asp
Specific GEMS from the above:
"– Support the open and civil exchange of views, even views they find repugnant."
"– Avoid stereotyping. Journalists should examine the ways their values and experiences may shape their reporting."
"– Label advocacy and commentary."
"– Refuse gifts, favors, fees, free travel and special treatment, and avoid political and other outside activities that may compromise integrity or impartiality, or may damage credibility."
"– Explain ethical choices and processes to audiences. Encourage a civil dialogue with the public about journalistic practices, coverage and news content."
"– Respond quickly to questions about accuracy, clarity and fairness."
"– Expose unethical conduct in journalism, including within their organizations."
"– Abide by the same high standards they expect of others."
Now YOU tell ME what the difference is between this Code of Ethics and Sinclair's statement. The Sinclair statement seems like a paraphrase of exactly the same principles!
Easy on the self flattery your not the only one . I just used you as an example, good one imo.
At least I recognize you by name ( given to you by another) .
Your posting frequency also prevents you from being a drive-by imo. There is the issue of potential besmirching
of true drive-bys.
The question in your last sentence also contains the answer about causation.
Being lectured by Sinclair et. al. about impartiality is like being lectured by Stoolie and his AMG gang about godliness. There is just no credibility.
If npr had circulated this anodyne statement for its broadcasters to read, would we be worrying about its attempt to play on the gullibility of its audience? Or applauding its heroism?
Shut up, Jasper! You think the vulgarity makes your point? Quite the opposite...
The SPJ has an issue with Sinclair's stance... but it has more to do with the mandated non-local videos & stories they run.
We have a gang ?
Do we have a name ?
Do we have a gang sign ?
You mean like putting "Democracy Dies In Darkness" on the masthead of a publication trying to do just that?
"What, precisely, in that statement is causing heartburn? It is a commitment to impartiality and responsiveness to local viewers, nothing more. Is impartiality now seen as a problem???"
Best post of the day ....
A Moose Gang? (AMG) With your hands positioned as antlers on your head?
Who is your ?
"I'll be your Huckleberry".
The Huckleberry Hipsters !
@Economike: "anon -
If npr had circulated this anodyne statement for its broadcasters to read, would we be worrying about its attempt to play on the gullibility of its audience? Or applauding its heroism?"
That would be equally as disturbing, especially if it had such a partisan message.
Did they do that?
AC would like to know ' . . Did they do that?'
Find today's episode of 1A. I didn't hear much of it but they were tearing into Sinclair. The host is too offensive for my taste so no link.
The whole premise of a "deep state" is that it's hidden. If CIA, NSA, or FBI folks are secretly working against the administration, that's a deep state.
A private company publicly announcing a policy statement isn't anything like that...
...it had such a partisan message.
I guess I missed the partisan part. What was it, would you say?
Of course the MSM continues its efforts to misrepresent...
The nonsense about Sinclair's political analyst is priceless. The MSM's commentators spout far worse bias with no "commentary" label anywhere in view. This MSM rag appears to insist that non-lefties need a "commentary" tattoo on their foreheads.
They would prefer a yellow star sewn to their coats as required by their Aryan heroes or, perhaps, just like their Islamic idols...just toss them off a building...headless.
Watcher, you’re projecting again...
Now I'm curious... trying to remember if *any* of the mainstream media annotate their commentary... and if so, in what way?
Thankfully, the FCC was having none of the MSM nonsense...
